Liturgical Worship

“From ancient times the Church has had the custom of celebrating each day the liturgy of the hours. In this way the Church fulfills the Lord’s precept to pray without ceasing, at once offering its praise to God the Father and interceding for the salvation of the world.”

During their time at the Summer Institute students will have opportunities each day to thank God for the gift of beauty in their lives. Each day will begin and end with the praise of God in the Liturgy of the Hours, the official public prayer of the Church. Students gather in the St. Francis chapel in order to dedicate each day to the Lord in the morning and thank Him for it in the evening. They will also have opportunities to spend time in silent prayer in the chapel, go to Reconciliation, and go to Mass throughout the week. Prayer is essential to the process of making an icon and we hope our students will have an opportunity to retreat from the world and grow closer to Christ at the Summer Institute.
