“The awful thing is that beauty is mysterious as well as terrible. God and the devil are fighting there and the battlefield is the heart of man.”

- Fyodor Dostoyevsky

About Us

Beauty Will Save the World is located in Fort Wayne, IN at the University of Saint Francis.

Our week-long theology camp gives high school students the opportunity to encounter God through beauty. Students will spend the week not just learning about beauty, but creating it. As a participant, you will spend a restful week on campus painting an icon of Christ with a trained iconographer. Time will also be spent learning about how God calls each person to an individual vocation and experiencing the richness of the Catholic Church’s liturgical prayer.

In addition, you will:

  • Interact with USF professors and explore readings on the theology of beauty

  • Attend workshops that explore Lectio Divina, the Jesus Prayer, Sacred Meditation and Discernment

  • Experience living in a college dorm, as well as recreational events that include sports, hiking, campfires, and an evening of live music, refreshments, and entertainment in the USF Student Center.

What age students are able to participate?

Currently the Summer Institute is accepting all high school aged students. This ranges from those having just graduated from 8th grade all the way to graduated high school seniors. Our hope is to allow as many students as possible the opportunity to come to know their Creator through beauty.

How much does it cost?

Thanks to a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment registration for the Summer Institute is only $99. This includes room and board for six days, all meals, a t-shirt, and art supplies.

Is the registration fee refundable?

We understand the sometimes life can get in the way of your plans. If you unfortunately cannot attend the camp after registering, let us know at least a week in advance and we will issue a full refund. All we ask is that you keep us in mind for next year!

Will my child be chaperoned?

Yes! During the day camp staff will be with your child guiding them through daily activities. At night our trained college mentors will be with them in the dorms to make sure all of our students have a safe and enjoyable stay at the University of Saint Francis campus.

Are participants able to return to the camp the next year?

Absolutely! Returning participants are welcome to come back and either paint a second icon of Christ or to paint an icon of the Blessed Virgin.

Are roommate requests accepted?

Included on the registration form is a place to write a request for a roommate. Both students must write each other down as roommates and we will make sure to pair them up in the dorms.
